...When, Where, and for As Long As You Need It!
week 39 ECLIPSE® v11Long ago I came to realize that submitting and tracking authorizations was becoming a shell game on a roulette table. I don't care how many stacks or notebooks I created – more things got missed or lost no matter how many hours I set aside raking over the information weekly, daily, hourly. It actually got to a point where the overhead of administrating these claims was calculating out to the equivalent of "paying a patient" to be treated $10-$15 per visit would have saved us money!
I can't begin to describe the instant relief I experienced when I discovered Eclipse® had created a tool-report-management system to tackle this problem. Initially I was skeptical, because it seemed like a lot of work inputting the information and the paper tracking to back it up, until I could put my faith in the structure of it all. Of course the easy option would have been to drop out of that network as far as I was concerned – but we all know the consequence of that choice! Once we had the system in place we never looked back and now I have more time to work hands on with our patients again.
When you use the "authorization tools" you get an instant view of the status of limits when you schedule your patients. You can take action then to initiate or respond to that status and prepare the patient on what they will need to do as well. Next if you are over the allotted visits authorized and you attempt to post a new service – a warning screen will flash reminding you it's past the time to do something. For a little pro-active motivation daily or weekly reports can be run to manage patient accounts on the need to use up expiring visits or prepare for re-submitting new authorizations. It not guarantee you'll get authorized but it sure took a huge chunk of the losses out the equation!
