Did you know, once you configure an e-mail server you can e-mail a patient articles, newsletters and forms form the EHR tab. You can also send a text reminder from the "appointment scheduler". I have even used it as a collection tool. How's that for tricking out your system.
Ideally if you would like to conveniently receive emails set-up outlook or outlook express. The set-up starts in the configuration, under import/export/email, where you will need to set-up the server settings. Next you will need to set-up user log on permissions and specific e-mail username and passwords for your e-mail domains whether or not you use the outlook products. Finally, collect patient e-mails, there is room for home & work if needed. Here's another bonus, there is a setting for spam, when generating bulk or marketing emails.
FOR SET_UP goto: > File> Utilities> Configuration> System/Workstation> Import/Export/Email
FOR USER PERMISSIONS goto: File> Database Tables> Users (requires admin password)
